Roofing decision guidance
Prepare a safe photo and symptom record that separates active water, dry marks, access limits and an unconfirmed cause before requesting help.

Are people away from unsafe areas, active water and electrical hazards? If there is immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service.
What happened, when did it begin, and which areas are actively affected? Use only photos obtainable safely.
What temporary protection has already been installed, who did it, and what limits were explained?
What investigation and durable repair remain after the immediate incident?
Temporary stabilization is not a permanent repair. Routine repair, leak diagnosis and planned replacement remain separate decisions.
Give each affected area a plain label, such as an upstairs hallway or a storage-room corner. Record the visible symptom, when it was noticed, and whether it is changing. Separate water entering now from marks that appear dry. Describe sounds, odors, or visible changes as observations, not proof of a roof defect. The inside location alone may not identify where water entered the building.
Only photograph areas you can reach safely. Include a wider view for location and a closer view for the symptom when safe; keep the original files and note the date. Do not climb onto the roof, open a ceiling, or approach wet electrical equipment to document the problem. If an area cannot be accessed safely, say so in the request rather than supplying a guessed measurement or diagnosis.
